American actress, Elsie Janis posing for a picture looking very fetching in a land workers outfit during the First World War. Elsie Janis (March 16, 1889 February 26, 1956) was an American singer, songwriter, actress, and screenwriter. Entertaining the troops during World War I immortalized her as the sweetheart of the AEF (American Expeditionary Force). The photograph bears a striking resemblance to picture number 10472401 - a drawing of a land girl on a postcard by amateur soldier artist George Ranstead.
